Sightseeing city tour in Polotsk (ancient settlement Upper and Lower castles with the motte-and-bailey of Ivan Grozny).
Visiting the Cathedral of st. Sophia. It was built nine and a half centuries ago in time of flowering of Polotsk region. It was a place of state receptions of ambassadors, declaring of war and piece, kept state treasury, buried Polotsk dukes with all due honors. Made of plinthiform bricks and stone, seven-domed Sophia finally went down in a luxurious baroque.
Today the Cathedral of st. Sophia (museum and concert hall at the same time) is a stone epigraph to centuries-long history of Belarus, symbol of our past.
Visiting the St. Euphrosyne nunnery (12th c.). Creating frescoes in church, noteless muralists captured in colorings their soul, it’s gust to beauty, the harmony of a moment. There are the hallows of Euphrosyne of Polotsk, the founder of the nunnery. Tourists and pilgrims all over the world come to make a bow to it.
Visiting the museum of Belarusian printing and the museum of weaving.
