Khatyn, a former village of Logoisk district in Minsk region, has become a symbol of the tragedy of the Belarusian people, a mournful chapter of the history of the Great Patriotic War. The tragedy happened on the 22nd of March, 1943: the village Khatyn was burned with all it’s inhabitants. The memorial, perpetuating the memory of all the victims of fascist terror, was opened in 1969. Visitors will see the streets of the burned village, the obelisks-pipes with the names of dead people at the place of the burned houses. The number “186” makes shudder when you understand that this is the number of the “buried” villages. Nowhere in the world you can find such a cemetery.

In the years of the occupation Belarusian land was made by fascists the place of massive destruction of people. The Wall of Sorrow is eloquent of it. There’s the eternal light in honor of all died people and three birches near it. Every fourth person died, the other three survived and renewed the life on Belarusian land.

At the end of the excursion, you will see the Mound of Glory — a memorial to the soldiers-liberators of Minsk, you can climb to its top.
